Men have evolved over the past decades outgrowing the stereotype of being gruff and chauvinistic. Having gradually embraced an open-minded way of thinking, it's no surprise that the-new-age guy is not embarrassed to show a sensitive side or even having a skincare regime to care for his looks.
Contrary to the idea that the kitchen
is a woman's domain, in the art of cooking, most professional chefs are men.
Bucking the trend is not exclusive to the culinary arts, as more men are also
breaking tradition and carving out their careers in previously female-reigned
jobs. Barbie dolls for girls and monster trucks for boys? With today's kids,
that might not necessarily be the case anymore.
Just take 22 year old Manhunt Singapore
2013 finalist Jake Cheng for instance. Never in a million years would anyone
have guessed that this 1.8m beefy personal instructor had to play with Barbie
dolls as hand-me-down toys from his three elder sisters during his childhood
years! Neither could people believe their ears when he revealed how he was
nicknamed "Bamboo", thanks to his scrawny 50kg build back when he was
18 years old.
Fuelled by the incessant taunting and
jibing, Jake took his naysayers by surprise when he packed on 25kg of solid
muscle, metamorphosing into an undeniable hunk. Now, as one of the top personal
trainers with a local gym, he in turn inspires and encourages many others to
pursue their fitness dreams.
With determination and plenty of hard
work, nothing is impossible in this world. And it is this mantra that Jake
lives by, as he sets forth to wow the competition, and work his way towards
fulfilling his own personal dreams of fame and stardom.
